Statement of Faith
To help people who are not familiar with the ministries of Calvary Chapel to understand who we are, we have developed the following statement of faith , the majority was written by Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel movement.
We believe that the true basis of Christian fellowship is love ( agape ) of Christ , which is greater than any differences we possess and without this we have no right to call ourselves Christians.
We believe worship of God should be spiritual. Then we remain flexible to the guidance of the Holy Spirit who leads us in worship.
We believe worship of God should be inspired. Therefore we give an important place to music in our services.
We believe worship of God should be intelligent. That is why our services are designed with great emphasis on the teaching of the Word of God in which He teaches us how to be worshiped.
We believe worship of God should be fruitful. Then we must look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping.
We believe that God exists eternally in three separate persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit .
We believe that God the Father is the transcendent person and sovereign Creator of all things.
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that he was born of a virgin, and a sinless life , providing redemption for our sins by His death on the cross, rose bodily from the power of the Holy Spirit , he amounted to heaven at the right hand of God the Father and from there intercedes for us . After Jesus ascended into heaven , He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem , enabling them to fulfill their mandate to preach the gospel to the entire world , an obligation shared by all believers today.
We believe that all people are by nature separated from God and are responsible for their sins , but salvation , redemption and forgiveness are offered free to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of his sin and accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior , trusting Him for salvation , that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit , all his sins are forgiven , and this person comes to be a child of God , destined to spend eternity with the Lord.
We believe in all the fundamental doctrines of evangelical orthodox Christianity.
We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture , that the Bible, Old and New Testament are inspired and that is the infallible word of God.
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and are valid for today if they are exercised within the scriptural guidance. We as believers must yearn for the best gifts seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ is built.
We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
We believe that church government should be simple rather than a complex bureaucracy, and we depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit instead of getting a fleshly promotion.
We expect the rapture of the church before the tribulation, and we believe the second coming of Christ with His saints to rule on earth will be personal, premillennial and visibly. This motivates us to live holy, worship of the heart, serve with dedication, study the word of God diligently, often congregate and participate in adult baptism by immersion and Holy Communion. We seek to teach the word of God so that your message can be applied to individual life in a relevant way, leading the person to a maturity in Christ.
